PORTER SQUARE

Porter Square is the area of Cambridge between Harvard Square and Somerville's Davis Square. Porter Square's most visible landmark is a 46-foot stainless steel kinetic sculpture by Susumu Shingu, entitled "Gift of the Wind." Contiguous to the Porter Square sub-way station are the Porter Square Shoping center and the Porter Square Galleria. The Porter Exchange mall, once a Sears-Roebuck department store, and now a collection of many (mostly Japanese) small shops, the Lesley University bookstore, and the Harvard-Smithsonian center for astrophysics.
